Indianapolis, IN – The Horizon Christian varsity baseball team notched one of the biggest wins in program history on Saturday. The Heritage Christian Eagles, a 2A IHSAA powerhouse baseball program, came to Veteran’s Memorial Ballpark on Saturday afternoon for a single game against the Lions.

Though shorthanded with their city tournament coming up, Heritage was still a formidable opponent with State Championship pedigree. The Eagles looked dominant early as they produced a 4-0 lead through 2 and a half innings. The Lions, though, had some fight in them as they roared back in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game up at 4 a piece.

However, the Lions would go scoreless the next two innings while Heritage scored 3 runs to build another lead. Hadyn Bruzynski, who started, had done an admirable job and could have potentially had less runs earned if not for a couple of errors by the Lions.

In the top of the 6th, Moise Yoder came in to relieve Hadyn. He stayed the course keeping the Eagles runs relatively minimal.

in the 6th and 7th inning, the Lions bats came back alive after a 2 inning drought. They scored 4 runs in the 6th inning and 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th.

The walk off hit, which will be attached below, was made by Cameron Vester. With bases loaded, he hit a ball into right center field which scored Ethan Harrison and scored Yoder, the winning run, from second base.

Vester was met at home plate by his teammates in an uproar as the Lions had completed one of their best wins in program history and best win of the year.

With the win, the Lions move to 8-1 on the year and look to continue their winning ways against Lafayette Central Catholic’s JV team.
